Data and Analytics Engineer

Purpose of the job:

As a Data and analytics Engineer, your role will be to take ownership of our custom data transformation pipelines and augment them with additional capabilities to ensure our business operations have access to relevant information for management, insights, and decision-making. You will be responsible for building tooling, dashboards, and reports to support our business teams while contributing to building our technical Data and Analytics capabilities.

Responsibilities

Data Engineering:

  • Work closely with the various engineering teams to understand available data sources, structures, and designs and extract and transform data for use in data analytics.
  • Spearhead initiatives to improve the way we work with data.
  • Take ownership of existing tools and processes for data transformation.
  • Review the tools and technologies used and recommend improvements or alternative solutions.

Data Analytics:

  • Build and maintain dashboards and automated reports, enabling VALR to monitor contracted party performance and risk metrics.
  • Distill data and build reports to empower marketing & growth initiatives.
  • Support the growth team in understanding and monitoring the performance of products and services.
  • Summarise and present insights about the state of the amount of assets on the platform, volumes, deposits and withdrawals.
  • Helping VALR understand our top customers better, developing holistic views of key clients to assist with sales, relationship building and strategy.
  • Creating easy-to-use tools and dashboards to look up customer information and summarise their platform usage over time.

Requirements

  • Strong familiarity with key financial market concepts, and a keen interest in Crypto / Blockchain technologies.
  • Strong technical Data Engineering tools and technology experience, e.g., SQL, Python, APIs, and Big data technologies.
  • Process, cleanse, and verify the integrity of data used for analysis.
  • Analyse large amounts of information to find patterns and solutions.
  • Do ad-hoc analysis.
  • Present results in a clear manner.
