Front-End Engineer

Purpose of the job:
As a Senior Front-end Engineer at VALR, you will play a pivotal role in the development and enhancement of our front-end applications, ensuring an exceptional user experience for our diverse user base. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to innovate and implement cutting-edge solutions in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.

• Contribute to the development of rich web applications using React and related technologies such as TypeScript, Node.js.
• Integrate frontend applications with backend REST APIs and Websockets to deliver seamless user experiences and real-time functionality.
• Write well-designed, testable, and efficient code by leveraging good software development practices.
• Develop and write tests to validate code and ensure the quality of external and internal interfaces.
• Work alongside our designers to convert designs into working front-end code, which involves manual testing and iterative improvements.
• Communicate with colleagues, managers, and internal stakeholders daily to align project goals, progress, and priorities.
• Participate in code reviews, architecture discussions, and technical initiatives to drive continuous improvement.
• Stay updated on emerging front-end technologies and industry trends to drive innovation and maintain our competitive edge.

• Practical experience is more relevant than a formal qualification.
• Extensive experience in frontend development with proficiency in React, TypeScript, Node.js, JavaScript, HTML, and CSS.
• At least five years of experience developing and launching software products or services.
• Solid understanding of version control (Git), containerisation and CI/CD concepts.
• Strong understanding of software development best practices, including writing clean, maintainable code and implementing automated testing.
• Proven ability to integrate frontend and backend systems, ensuring seamless functionality and data consistency.
• Effective communication and collaboration skills with the ability to work closely with designers and cross-functional teams.
• Commitment to continuous learning and staying updated on emerging front-end technologies and industry trends.
• Passion for cryptocurrencies and alternative financial systems.
• A natural inclination to help people and the ability to explain technical details simply.
