The Cilium team is a distributed group of subject matter experts in Kubernetes, Cloud Native technologies, networking, eBPF and Linux Kernel development.


About this role:

We are looking for a Go engineer to work on Hubble, our network and security observability and analytics platform. You’ll be working on all Hubble related projects, the open source part as well as the Isovalent enterprise offering which notably comprises Hubble Timescape, an observability and analytics platform to store and query observability data that Cilium and Tetragon generate.

Responsibilities

A typical day:

  • Develop high-quality Go code for the Hubble open source projects while following open source development principles and best practices.
  • Active participation in the open-source community.
  • Develop high-quality Go code for Isovalent’s network and security observability platform, including our in-house analytics solution.
  • Possibility to speak at public conferences about achievements (if desired).

Requirements

Your Expertise:

  • Computer Science degree, or equivalent experience.
  • Ample experience with Go.
  • Desire to write high quality and efficient code.
  • Some experience with Kubernetes, Cloud Native workloads and/or distributed systems.
  • Knowledge of SQL (we use ClickHouse) and query optimization for large datasets is a plus.
  • Knowledge about Linux systems design, security and/or networking, Linux kernel knowledge is a plus.
  • Experience designing and implementing APIs is a plus.
  • A public track record of open source code commits is a plus.
  • Experience in public speaking at technical open source conferences is a plus.

Minimum salary of $140,000 to maximum $220,000.

These pay ranges are intended to cover roles based across the United States. The actual offer depends on various factors including geographic location and review of experience, knowledge, skills and abilities of the applicant. Compensation for the candidates outside of the US will vary depending on the local market.


Location: In this role, you can work remotely from anywhere, with a preference for candidates in the US and Europe time zone.
